HOW TO BUY?

PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU BID:

1. Registration Requirements

To participate in our online public auctions, you must first create an account and register to bid.

To create an account, you will need:

  • A valid email address

  • Phone number

  • Physical address

  • Credit or debit card

Once your account is created, you can register and bid in our online auctions.

2. Registering for a Specific Auction

Each auction requires separate registration.

Before bidding, you must register for that specific auction and read and accept the auction’s Terms & Conditions.

If you attempt to place a bid without registering, a prompt will appear asking you to accept the terms before bidding.

A valid credit card must be kept on file.

When adding a new card, a $1.00 pre-authorization will be placed on the card and automatically released within 5 business days.

3. How Bidding Works

Our auctions are timed with staggered and soft closing.

Staggered Close
Lots close individually every 20–45 seconds, rather than all at once.

The exact stagger timing may vary by auction. Please refer to the Bidding Notice for auction-specific details.

Soft Close
If a bid is placed during the final minute before a lot closes, the bidding time for that lot will automatically extend by one additional minute.

Maximum (Proxy) Bidding

Bidders may place a single bid or set a maximum bid.

When you place a maximum bid, the system will automatically increase your bid in the required increments to keep you in the lead until your maximum amount is reached.

Your maximum bid remains hidden unless it is exceeded.

If another bidder surpasses your maximum bid, you will need to place a new bid or set a new maximum bid.

Outbid notifications will be sent by email if you have opted in to receive them.

Important Bidding Rules

  • Bidding must be completed through the online platform.

  • No absentee bids will be accepted by phone or email.

  • All bids are binding and cannot be retracted.

4. Invoices & Payments

Once all lots have closed and the auction is complete, winning bidders will receive an invoice by email with payment instructions and a payment due date.

Sales tax will be applied based on the auction location.

Sales tax exemptions must follow state laws, and proper documentation will be required.

Accepted Payment Methods

  • Credit / Debit Card

  • Money Order

  • ACH/Wire Transfer

Cash, personal checks, and company checks are not accepted.

Your credit card on file will not be automatically charged.

5. Removal / Pickup

Please review the auction-specific removal dates and terms listed in the auction details.

  • No shipping available

Items may not be removed until:

  • The auction has fully closed

Failure to arrange pickup or communicate with us before the removal deadline may result in being banned from participating in Seattle Auction Company auctions and all HiBid auctions.
